The MIMUC 2026 Public Lecture was given by Rob Eastaway:
"The Maths of Shakespeare's England"
MIMUC is a student-led conference at the University of Manchester bringing together undergraduates, master's students, researchers, and industry professionals.
The conference focuses on sharing mathematical ideas, exploring interdisciplinary connections, and giving students the opportunity to present topics they are passionate about.
The programme includes student talks alongside invited plenary speakers, networking opportunities and engagement with sponsors.
Past prize-winners have come from a wide range of mathematical disciplines, including computer science and physics as well as pure and applied mathematics. Talks have also been given by economics students and educators.
The 2026 conference welcomed over 200 attendees across two days, with students fitting the conference in with their lecture timetables.
The concluding public lecture attracted over 150 attendees from both the university and the wider public, including local schools.
